Ulysses participants are selected from the ranks of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) partners around the world on the basis of their leadership skills and potential within the local firm.

Many Ulysses participants are high-performing women. The programme is a key part of PwC's commitment to retaining and developing female talent into positions of leadership, an initiative which is led globally by the Gender Advisory Council. The two programmes are closely connected: Global CEO Sam DiPiazza also serves on the Global Private Sector Leaders Advisory Council for the World Bank Group's Gender Action Plan, which sponsored a 2008 Ulysses project in Tanzania.
